Workout Wednesday: Gabby Douglas Pilates Inspired Workout

I’m obsessed with Nike Training Club. If you don’t know what it is check out more details on my post about it. Basically it is like having a personal trainer in your cell phone, for free! I haven’t used it much lately but I go through phases when I do an I am planning on starting a new 4 week plan this week through the phone app, which is a new feature. Another new feature since I’ve used it last is a lot more celebrity workouts have been added. Today I tried the Gabby Douglas Perfect Alignment Workout when I was in a rush before getting ready for work. It’s only 15 minutes long and it is a lot harder than it looks! Check it out:

Do 3 rounds of 1 minute of each exercise. If it involves a movement of 1 leg do 30 seconds on each leg.

February Cell 2014



Start in a side plan position with your bottom leg bent and resting on the floor with your hip up and your other foot starting on the floor as well. Contract your leg while holding a tight core and lift your top leg up and repeat 30 seconds on each leg.

Start on your side with your head resting on your arm and your leg straight. Lift your top leg and begin to do circles keeping your toes pointed and your leg and core tight. 30 seconds each leg.

Start on your back lifting your legs and point your toes up to the ceiling while holding them side by side. Push your lower back into the ground lifting while lifting your shoulders and flutter your hands up and down repeatedly as fast as you can without losing form. Do this for 1 minute.

Start on your side with your head resting on your arm and your leg straight out. Flex your top leg and lift it up and down for 30 seconds and then switch sides for 30 more seconds.

Start on your back with your hands above your head and your legs straight out. Pushing your lower back into the floor roll up into a crunch position and keep going until your touch your toes. Roll back to the start point and repeat for 1 minute.

Remember to do all 5 exercises for 3 rounds.
