Green Smoothie

I was so excited when I found a straggler of a pre-packed green smoothie in the freezer today! I’ve been slacking lately and thought that I completely ran out until I found the final pack in the corner of the freezer. Despite the snow on the ground I easily mixed up my green smoothie and enjoyed a refreshing taste of summer!

Workout Wednesday: Beach Special

I went to Florida this weekend for an Always A Home Game trip and had an amazing time traveling to about 20 different Steelers bars across the state. At these bars I also ate a lot of food — unhealthy food. So, when Monday came around and we just happened to stay right on a beach I made sure I woke up extra early to get a workout in before we started another day of traveling! I was lucky enough to have a beach right outside my door but if you are traveling and looking for a simple on the road workout, this could definitely be done in a hotel room as well!

5 rounds of: 

30 push ups
40 sit ups
50 squats

rest 1 minute after each round

Keep track of your time so you have something to shoot for next time you do it.

I finished in 26 minutes. A word of advice, definitely lay down a towel for the sit ups or even better a yoga mat.

The view was so beautiful that it seemed to make the workout feel a little bit easier. And the 60 degree weather increase from Pennsylvania to Florida wasn’t too bad either!

Post Workout Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie

After a hard workout it’s important to refuel your body with protein to help build muscle and if you aren’t real big on protein powder this quick and easy smoothie recipe is a great option. Not only is it packed with protein but it’s delicious!

Blend together:

1 cup skim milk
2 heaping spoonfuls of peanut butter
1 frozen banana (If you don’t have a frozen banana just add some ice in with the banana)

Top it off with honey and enjoy!

Workout Wednesday: Leg Day. No Gym Required.

Absolutely Abbey Blog12Believe me, it sounds easier than it is. AMRAP means “As Many Reps As Possible.” So, in 20 minutes see how many complete rounds of 20 lunges (10 each leg), 10 sit ups and 15 squats you can do. This is a great workout you can do in your house with just a small amount of space on cold days. But the key to AMRAP workouts is to push yourself as hard as you can. This way you get the most out of the quick 20 minute circuit. So push yourself!

20 Lunges. 10 each leg.

10 sit ups. Touch your hands to the ground behind your head on the way down and in between your feet when you get back to the top.

Get your butt parallel to the ground or lower on every rep with your feet about shoulder width apart.

I made it through 12 complete rounds and my legs were on fire!

Sweet Mixed Fruit and Spinach Smoothie

In a rush I randomly put this smoothie together today and I think it is definitely one of my favorite ones to date!

This is what I mixed up:

A handful of spinach 
A mixture of Strawberries, Blueberries, Pineapple, Mango and Peaches
A little bit of Almond Milk
A little bit of flax seeds 
1 Pack of It Works Greens
Enough Cran-Apple Juice to get it to the right thickness 

Top with Pomegranate Seeds

Typically I don’t use measurements in my smoothies instead I just add as I go…after a while you get the feel for how much you need. What I found is I usually make more than enough but in my eyes too much is better than not enough because I can just drink the extra later in the day.

Mixed Fruit And Spinach Smoothie

Yum. I Love this smoothie!

To make it I mixed up:

A handful of spinach

1 cup of mixed frozen fruit

1 banana

2 spoon fulls of plain/vanilla yogurt

1 pack of It Works Berry Greens

Enough skim/almond milk to make your desired thickness

**Top with fruit and honey for some extra sweetness!

Hi and thank you for visiting my blog! My name is Abbey Way and I’m a fun-loving girl from a small town outside of Pittsburgh, PA. I have always had a passion for sports and fitness and I hope I can inspire others to live life to the fullest in a healthy way! I played basketball since I was old enough to pick up a ball and I’ve never lost my love for the sport. I played all through high school and surpassed 1,000 career points by junior year. I also did track and field in high school where I still hold the school record in pole vault and long jump. I went on to pole vault as a student athlete at East Carolina University and today I am a sports reporter at 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh, (KDKA-FM). I can’t imagine a life without exercise and I want to inspire others to have a passion for fitness as well! I love coaching basketball and pole vault to young kids and I hope I can have as big as an impact on them as my coaches did on me! My motto is: train dirty, eat clean, have fun!
